Stockholm Jazz Strings

STOCKHOLM JAZZ STRINGS is a unique string quartet that consists of both classical and jazz musicians. It is a project that was started to build bridges between the classical world and the jazz world and the quartet derives elements from both genres. The project is done in collaboration with the eminent musician and composer Alexander Ivarsson. He arranges the repertoire consisting of jazz songs taken from the American songbook and compositions written by members of the quartet. What makes the string quartet unique is that they mix improvisation into their repertoire. This gives all of the musicians the ability to influence the music with personal expression and shape the outcome of the piece.
